The Retail Operations Manager will lead the launch and day-to-day operations of our new on-site gift shop, Encore, opening in May 2026. This seasonal role is responsible for creating an engaging retail experience that extends the magic of our performances beyond the stage and into a thoughtfully curated shopping environment.
Working at the intersection of arts, hospitality, and retail, the Retail Operations Manager will oversee merchandise selection, inventory management, volunteer staffing, and sales strategy while ensuring the shop reflects the creativity and spirit of our performing arts campus. This individual will play a key role in developing a retail program that enhances the visitor experience and supports the organization's earned revenue goals.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on-a leader who enjoys building something new, analyzing sales performance, and creating a welcoming retail space that audiences will want to return to. From sourcing unique merchandise to leading volunteer staff and optimizing operations, the Retail Operations Manager will help transform our gift shop into a vibrant extension of our artistic community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops short and long-range retail business plans, including measurable benchmarks for financial sales and inventory management
- Sets specific policies, standards, and procedures consistent with the Mann’s mission, vision, and strategic plan
- Recruits, trains, schedules, and manages seasonal volunteers
- Works closely with the Vice President of People Operations and Chief Operating Officer on the sourcing, branding, and merchandising of new products; includes attending trade and product shows
- Develops and implements criteria and standards for customer service. Monitor outcomes on an ongoing basis
- Works closely with the Vice President of People Operations to market the Mann’s retail identity and product
- Develops and manages operating income and expense budgets based on historical financial, projected attendance, and concert selection
- Oversees data entry for each day’s sales in Shopify and prepares transaction closing reports for finance
- Prepares month-end reports for the Mann’s Finance Department
- Oversees stock deliveries and warehouse operations.
- Reviews monthly financial reports with the Vice President of People Operations and Chief Operating Officer
- Reconciles monthly sales tax for state filing
- Prepare all year-end reporting for budget reconciliation
- Coordinates with Finance and conducts physical inventory at the end of the season (fiscal year end) and reconciles to the General Ledger Inventory account
- Identify UBIT retail inventory and prepare annual UBIT sales report for IRS Form 990T
- Manage and maximize the e-commerce site and online catalog on a year-long basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be customer-focused and friendly
- Must be well-versed in point-of-sales systems and willing to learn Shopify
- Must know PowerPoint, Excel, and understand databases.
- Must understand merchandising and how to keep a retail space fresh, welcoming and exciting
Education and Experience:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience required, with emphasis on retail management, customer relationship management, marketing or business
- At least four years’ experience in a retail environment is preferred.
- Must have at least two years of management experience
- Previous experience with a not-for-profit cultural institution and volunteers preferred

The Security Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of security operations across the Highmark Mann Center campus, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment for audiences, artists, staff, and partners.
This role oversees day-to-day campus and event security operations, supervising security personnel, managing security systems and protocols, and coordinating closely with internal teams to support the smooth and secure delivery of performances and public events. The Security Manager plays a critical leadership role in maintaining a safe venue environment while contributing to the exceptional guest experience that defines Highmark Mann.
The position is responsible for managing security staff during both routine campus operations and large-scale live events, (up to 12,500 guests), administering access control and security technologies, maintaining emergency response procedures and incident documentation, and continuously strengthening the organization’s safety practices.
Working in close collaboration with Event Operations, Facilities, and Guest Services, the Security Manager ensures that security planning and execution align with operational needs while upholding Highmark Mann's commitment to safety, professionalism, and hospitality.
This position reports to the Vice President & General Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Security Personnel Management
- Leads the hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management of seasonal campus security personnel.
- Supports the recruitment and onboarding of seasonal event security personnel.
- Event Security Operations
- Maintains an on-site presence during campus events to oversee security operations and ensure the security program meets established safety objectives and operational expectations.
- With event operations staff, oversees the deployment and staffing of event security personnel and contracted law enforcement during concerts, festivals, and public programs based on event size, risk profile, and operational requirements.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for all contracted law enforcement personnel during events.
- Security Systems and Access Control
- Serves as operational administrator for security systems including CCTV systems, access control systems, key control programs, and drone detection systems.
- Coordinates maintenance, repairs, and vendor support for security systems as needed.
- Ensures security systems are functioning properly during events and routine operations.
- Maintains inventory of security equipment, including magnetometers, screening equipment, and related security supplies and accessories.
- With the Front of House Operations Manager, oversees the campus security credential program.
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintains and updates building and event security operating manuals, logs, and documentation.
- With Law Enforcement Liaison, participates in emergency preparedness planning, capital planning, and operational readiness initiatives.
- Prepares incident documentation and coordinates follow-up actions when necessary.
- Maintains regular office hours during the offseason to support campus security operations and ensures access control standards are maintained.

Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in security operations, law enforcement, venue security, or related field.
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Experience working in live events, performing arts venues, stadiums, or large public facilities strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with security technologies such as CCTV and access control systems
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
Work Environment
This position operates in a dynamic live-event environment that includes both routine campus operations and large public performances. The Security Manager should be comfortable working outdoors, managing security operations during evening and weekend events, and making real-time decisions in fast-paced operational settings.
During the active performance season, the role maintains an on-site presence during events to oversee security personnel and coordinate with operational teams and law enforcement partners.
During the off-season, the position focuses on planning, documentation, system management, and operational readiness for the upcoming performance season.

The Development Intern provides critical support to the Development team, including, but not limited to, donor services, special events, donor relations, membership, and assistance with other fundraising solicitations during Highmark Mann’s summer concert season.
This position is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, outgoing, highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized individual with excellent communication and time management skills. This entry-level position is a fantastic way for a self-starting individual to be immersed in the performing arts.
This person should be comfortable meeting and interacting with various patrons, donors, and staff, and be passionate about the Highmark Mann’s mission to serve our community. The environment is fast-paced and requires handling multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
The Development Intern reports directly to the Manager of Development Operations and the Director of Development Events and Strategic Advancement—evening and weekend availability required.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Development Team in the operations, setup, and breakdown of the Donor Terrace & Garden and other event spaces at summer concerts and Special Events, including Gala, cocktail receptions, board meetings, and dinners.
- Assists in the Donor Terrace and Garden and at special events listed above, with event registration, wayfinding, vendor communications, and guest experience.
- Assists in creating and preparing items for events and meetings, such as signage, wristbands, and nametags.
- Assists as a point of contact for written and phone inquiries from members and help to arrange membership packets and materials for the season.
- Creates digital assets and basic design projects for the team to use for events or outreach.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Creative Services with high volume of graphic design projects across departments.
- Assist the Digital Media Services Coordinator with creating and managing content for digital screens.
- Assist in shooting high-quality photos and videos of select events, promotions, and concerts, including set-up and breakdown of equipment.
- Conceptualize, produce, and edit multimedia content for website, social media, and marketing collateral.
- Import and catalog footage and design projects in shared asset drives for the Marketing Department.

The Operations & Guest Services Intern will assist in identifying and providing solutions to real-time customer experience opportunities in an administrative setting and at Highmark Mann’s campus during select events. The ideal candidate has strong customer service experience and familiarity with Highmark Mann performance schedule. Working closely with the campus operations and administrative teams, this role will provide a hands-on learning opportunity for those looking for theater operations and hospitality experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provides outstanding customer service over the phone and in person during Highmark Mann events.
- Addresses customer requests.
- Assists in the coordination and execution of assigned Highmark Mann concerts, events, and meetings.
- Acts as front-of-house contact and greeter for the Crescendo Restaurant on nights when the restaurant is open.
- Supports the on-campus Highmark Mann Encore Merchandise shop.
