It’s a big year for the Philadelphia Orchestra’s summer home, the 250th festivities having special significance, as Philadelphia was where the Declaration of Independence was signed; plus the arts centre itself is celebrating 50 years on its massive, 21-acre cultural campus in historic Fairmount Park by completely reimagining the campus. Highlights include the premiere of Peter Boyer’s oratorio A Hundred Years On, honouring the 1876 Centennial Exposition.
